Miami Day 1 Evening

I'll probably be a day behind in posting, just because I take so many photos and it takes time to process them to web size.  But we had a marvelous dinner with old friend David Cole and his partner Dan to celebrate JK's Birthday!

Little did we know that the restaurant was just doors down from Miami's oldest bar - Tobacco Road!  It was also the place where our Portland friends, Mary Frances & Bill met each other back in the 80s.

It reminded JK and I of the Little Bear bar in Evergreen Colorado.  Today David played tour guide with us taking us to Vizcaya, but it was closed on Tuesday.  So we took a drive through Coral Gables and to Miami's arts district where we saw amazing street art all over the place (wait until you see the photos on Flickr) and then over to Miami Beach and South Beach where we had lunch at a lovely bookstore and cafe.

Tonight we meet with Elizabeth Opalenik (our fearless leader) and Reed from the Santa Fe Workshop.  Interestingly enough while at the street art place, we met a gal - Nancy - who is going on the trip with us but with a different group leader.

View of South Beach and surrounds from high atop a very modern parking structure.  Below is a pano of JK at Bay Front Park
