Weekend Entertainment

Your entertainment maven has some great ideas for this weekend. First of all, if you haven't seen The Last Days of Judas Iscariot at the Wilkerson Theatre, GO! It's a thought provoking show with great performances. Just click on this link for details. Already seen and loved the show? OK, now you can see thisDamn, you can't read the writing on the poster my friend La Rue sent me. It's a benefit for a group that helps the shelter dogs and cats. It's on Saturday, March 7th, which is my father-in-law's birthday which is why you won't see me at the Crest Theatre downtown. You can call the Crest at (916) 44-CREST. Wendy Carroll (Michelle Williams) is driving to Ketchikan, Alaska, in hopes of a summer of lucrative work at the Northwestern Fish cannery, and the start of a new life with her dog, Lucy. When her car breaks down in Oregon, however, the thin fabric of her financial situation comes apart, and she confronts a series of increasingly dire economic decisions, with far-ranging repercussions for herself and her dog.

WENDY AND LUCY addresses issues of sympathy and generosity at the edges of American life, revealing the limits and depths of people’s duty to each other in tough times. Williams has already garnered critics’ attention for her haunting performance, as she conveys 'an inexorable sense of longing for something more than life has given her.' (Scott Foundas, Variety). 2008 Color 1 hour 20 minutes Rated R
